Whether it’s a unique roofing system, a brand-new client, or an interesting choice of materials, there’s always something new and different to be ready for—even in a project as seemingly straightforward as a repair or commercial roof replacement!
So to share some of the interesting projects we’ve worked on here at Dolan Roofing, we’ve started a new blog series: Project Spotlights! Today, we’re covering a commercial roof replacement completed by our Tucson roofing team. This roof had been significantly damaged by hail storms in the area, and the Dolan team came through! Let’s take a look.
Background and clients
Our client for this project had a commercial building in Northwest Tucson. We knew the owners of the building, and they came to us when their roof began leaking. We worked to earn the trust of their property manager, who coordinated with us throughout the repair process. Following this project, we’ll also be inspecting three other properties owned by these clients!
The project
The building owners originally called us about a leaky roof. However, when we inspected their roof to diagnose the leak, we found that their roof had sustained hail damage. The owners were previously unaware of this damage; in fact, many businesses around Tucson may not be aware that hail has damaged many roofs this summer! In many cases, a commercial roof repair or replacement from storm damage may be covered by insurance. Our clients contacted their insurance company after we uncovered the hail damage and were told a full replacement was warranted.*

The challenges
We faced a few unique challenges during this commercial roof replacement project. One was coordinating with a medical tenant in the building, as they were having their AC unit replaced. We wanted to be careful to minimize disruptions to their business operations as well as those of other tenants in the building.
Additionally, both material and labor availability has often been limited during 2021. Working through this situation was no easy task, as it wound up taking around two months for us to get our hands on the necessary roofing materials to complete this project.
The result: A successful commercial roof replacement!
With our task laid out for us, the Dolan Roofing & Construction team got to work! Tucson Branch Manager Cory Catterson took the lead on this project, and Operations Manager Brandy Tilley played a major role as well in coordinating the many moving parts.
Our experienced commercial roofers set to work on the leaking, hail-damaged roof to construct a new roofing system for the building. We were able to coordinate effectively to minimize disruptions to the businesses within the building and source roofing materials for the project. By the end, our clients were left with a brand-new, perfectly functional commercial roof!
