Looking for Upcoming Family Events in San Antonio?

April may be the first full month of spring, but May is when we really get into the swing of things here in San Antonio. With gorgeous weather and so many holidays scattered throughout the month, our calendar is stuffed with family events in San Antonio and throughout the surrounding area.

As a family-owned roofing company, our entire Dolan Roofing team is excited for everything May has in store. If you’re looking for family events in San Antonio, here are a few notable festivals, holiday celebrations, performances, and more that we’ve marked on our calendar this month!

Mother’s Day Events

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! There are plenty of great family events to celebrate the many moms of San Antonio.

Mother’s Day Market – Saturday, May 7th from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Mother’s Day starts a day early with the Mother’s Day Market at Rolling Oaks Mall! The event will include live entertainment and vendors creating a market just for mothers.

Ivy Hall Mother’s Day Brunch – Sunday, May 8th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What’s Mother’s Day without an elegant brunch? Ivy Hall is one of San Antonio’s most gorgeous event spaces, and they’re hosting a Mother’s Day brunch amid their beautiful gardens. Come out and enjoy some fresh air, flowers, and great food.

Run This Mother 5K and Half Marathon – Sunday, May 8th at 8 a.m.

For the more active moms out there, the annual Run This Mother 5K is a women-only running event in San Antonio. With a Kids Fun Run also on the docket, this is sure to be one of the best active family events of the month! And hey, if you finish fast enough, there may still be time to get back to Ivy Hall for the second brunch timeslot. You can register here.

Other Holiday Events

Market Square Weekend Programming – May 7th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

One of the best spots to visit in San Antonio no matter what time of year, Market Square will feature live performances, including dancing and music, as well as specialty vendors and food booths to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Memorial Day River Walk Artisan Show – May 27-30th starting at 11 a.m.

Memorial Day falls on May 30, just as the month is ending, so it’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy some of the last family events for the month in San Antonio. We strongly recommend the Artisan Show at one of the city’s most popular and beautiful areas along the San Antonio River, the River Walk! The Memorial Day Artisan Show will feature more than 40 artisan booths featuring handmade crafts including pottery, paintings, beadwork, and much more. The event is free to attend and continues throughout Memorial Day Weekend. Learn more here.

Exciting Events Throughout the Month

We don’t need a holiday to have an excuse to celebrate and have fun! Here are some of the best events in San Antonio for the rest of the month of May, including events for adults as well as the whole family to enjoy.

San Antonio Flavor – May 5th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Hosted by the San Antonio Museum of Art, San Antonio Flavor is back and better than ever in 2022. This event features food samples from restaurants throughout the Alamo City, including food from various cuisines as well as craft beer and wine. There will also be live music, art installations, the Culinary Showdown, and much more! Learn more at the event site here.

Zoo La-La! – May 12th from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

One of San Antonio Zoo’s most anticipated fundraising events, Zoo La-La also features food samples from San Antonio’s top restaurants featuring a wide variety of cuisines. Guests can wander throughout the zoo to enjoy multiple stages featuring live music, as well as local craft beer and wine. We’ll have to leave the kids home for this one, though—only guests 21 and older will be allowed. Learn more about Zoo La-La! here

San Antonio Book Festival – May 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A celebration of local and regional authors, the San Antonio Book Festival returns for its 10th anniversary after canceled and virtual events in 2020 and 2021. Located at San Antonio Central Library, attendees will get to peruse books, enjoy hearing from featured authors, and participate in a range of family events and programming including theater performances, interactive play and art stations, and more.
