Though it may be hard to believe with all the heat we’re still getting, fall is on the way here in San Antonio. That means it’s the perfect time to make a trip out to enjoy the many exciting events popping up all over town the next few months! As San Antonio locals, we’re eager to get out and about, and we figured our customers and readers are too. So to help you keep track, we’ve put together a list of all the things to do in San Antonio between now and the end of the year—many of them totally free!

Events in September

It’s already September, but there are still plenty of interesting events left for this month.

Rey Feo Superhero River Parade 

September 23 at the San Antonio River Walk

Bring the whole family to meet your favorite superheroes! It’ll be superheroes galore all along the river, including meet and greets, food, and entertainment. 

Check Out Jazz Performances

September 10 and September 29-30

September is full of jazz-themed events and performances, with a few still on the docket. There’s still time to head out to Sunday Jazz at the Witte on Sept. 10, though if you miss that one another will take place on Oct. 8. 

For more jazz, the annual festival Jazz’SAlive will take place at Travis Park from Sept. 29-30. 

Events in October

October is officially the start of spooky season! Here are all the events and free things to do throughout San Antonio in October.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Throughout October

October is officially the time to take the family out to the many pumpkin patches located near San Antonio. There are dozens of great options to choose from, many of which feature events and activities of their own—from ziplines and barrel train rides to dance parties. Big Texas Comicon

October 6-8 at Gonzalez Convention Center

A weekend full of cosplay, autograph signings, and comic book star power, the Big Texas Comicon is, well, one of the biggest events of its kind. This year’s event will feature plenty of the biggest names in comics, with Q/A sessions, signings, and much more.

Shania Twain’s Queen of Me Tour

October 12 at the AT&T Center

Still going strong, Shania Twain will be coming through San Antonio on Oct. 12. Her performance will feature her new album, Queen of Me, along with plenty of other country pop staple songs. 

Dia de los Muertos Festival

October 29-30 at Hesmisfair

For the 11th year, San Antonio’s Dia de los Muertos Festival returns. This festival is always a blast for the whole family and ranks as one of the best free things to do in San Antonio each year, with vendors, food, performances, workshops, a procession, and much more!

Events in November (and Beyond)

The last month of fall, November still has plenty of opportunities to get out and about in the Alamo City.

Wurstfest

November 3-12 at Circle Arts Theater

San Antonio’s ultimate celebration of sausage, this year’s edition of Wurstfest is sure to be a blast. A fun and tasty blend of Texas and German culture, this event features plenty of beer, brats, music, carnival activities, and much more. Visit their website for more info.

Holiday Lights on the River Walk

November 24 – January 7, 2024 at the River Walk

It may be the beginning of fall, but it’s never too early to look forward to holiday lights on the San Antonio River Walk! This is always one of our favorite free things to do in San Antonio, and the beautiful decorations up and down the river make for an atmosphere that’s perfect for a family walk or a romantic stroll.
